This is essentially fried rice, but with a distinctive Indonesian twist, often including spices, egg, vegetables, and sometimes chicken or other meats.

Nasi Goreng

📌Ingredients

        ●2 bowls of cooked cold rice
        ●1 egg
        ●Optional:diced chicken, shrimp, 
                    or vegetables
        ●2 shallots
        ●2 garlic cloves
        ●1-2 chilies
        ●2 tbsp cooking oil
        ●1 tbsp tomato ketchup
        ●1-2 tbsp sweet soy sauce 
            (kecap manis)
        ●Salt & pepper to taste
        ●Optional: fried shallots, 
                    cucumber slices, prawn
                     crackers for garnish

Recipe

📝1.Blend or finely chop shallots, garlic, and chili.
📝2.Heat oil in a pan and sauté the blended paste until fragrant.
📝3.Push the paste aside, crack in the egg, scramble and cook.
📝4.Add chicken or shrimp if using, stir-fry until cooked.
📝5.Add rice and stir well to mix everything evenly.
📝6.Add ketchup, sweet soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir-fry until the rice is well-coated and heated through.
📝7.Serve with optional garnishes like cucumber, fried shallots, or crackers.

📌Ingredients

        ●500g diced chicken
        ●10-12 skewers
        ●2 shallots
        ●4 garlic cloves
        ●2 chilies
        ●1 tsp turmeric powder
        ●2 tbsp sweet soy sauce 
            (kecap manis)
        ●1 tbsp lime juice
        ●Salt & pepper
        
        For the Peanut Sauce
        ●100g roasted peanuts 
            (or peanut butter)
        ●1 garlic clove, 1 shallot
        ●1-2 tsp chili paste or fresh
            chili
        ●1 tbsp sweet soy sauce
        ●1 tsp palm sugar
            (or brown sugar)
        ●Water to thin the sauce
            

Recipe

📝1.Blend the shallots, garlic, chili, turmeric, lime juice, soy sauce, salt, and pepper into a marinade.
📝2.Marinate the chicken in the paste for 1 hour.
📝3.Skewer the chicken pieces and grill or pan-fry until cooked and slightly charred.
📝4.For the peanut sauce: blend all sauce ingredients, cook in a pan until thickened.
📝5.Serve satay with warm peanut sauce and optionally rice cakes (lontong).

        ●Optional: rice cakes (lontong)
        ●Fried shallots for garnish
        
        Peanut Sauce:
        ●100g roasted peanuts
        ●1 garlic clove
        ●1 tsp chili paste
        ●1 tsp palm sugar
        ●1 tsp tamarind juice
        ●Salt
        ●Water or coconut milk 
            (to thin the sauce)

        ●1 tsp coriander powder

📝1.Blend garlic, shallots, ginger, galangal, chilies, turmeric, and coriander into a paste.

        ●Shredded chicken or prawns 
              (optional)
        ●Cabbage, carrots, spring onions 
              (sliced)
        ●Oil for frying
